A SPRINGTIME PRAYER
As the earth once again turns to face the sun we rejoice in this season of spring.
We give thanks, O God, that each day grows longer in light and that the earth has been liberated from the cold of winter.
We remember the resurrection of Your Son Jesus from the depths of the tomb. We lift our hearts to You in gratitude. We thank You for the gift of a day and the graces it holds.
We ask for the grace, O God, to live in a new way. Grant us fresh dreams and new visions.
May this day come upon us like Spring herself, so that our hearts may be filled with hope.
May we taste more deeply the joys of simply being alive. May we find the countless hidden treasures that You have scattered throughout this day and season!
May Your peace rest upon all the members of the earthen family with whom You have made us one.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope all our families have a safe, relaxing Term 3 holiday filled with opportunities for rest, play and just having the time to enjoy each other’s company. I thank our students, staff and parents for working in partnership over the last ten weeks. Hopefully this beautiful springtime weather will enable us to venture outside and enjoy the many natural features that our local area has to offer.
STAGE 3 CHRISTMAS STORY ART COMPETITION
Congratulations to the following students whose artworks have been selected for the 2020 Diocesan Christmas Story Art Competition:
Year 5: Jack Broadhead, Charlotte Gelfius, Bronte Grove
Year 6: Keegan McIlwaine, Amelia Dimitrievski, Cate Mansbridge
They will be judged in early October against students from the other Diocesan Primary Schools. I would like to thank the children’s teachers and Mrs Mang for supporting the children through this competition.
SUMMER UNIFORM
The changeover to summer uniform officially starts on the first day of Term Four,Monday 12 October, however, if the warm weather continues, the students can wear their summer uniform for the next week, apart from Tuesday 22 September which is our school photo day.
AFTERNOON PICK UP
I am now in the process of reviewing people’s feedback regarding the
proposal of an afternoon student pick up zone in Wilson Street. I will consult with the school Leadership team and communicate a decision next term in Week One’s Newsletter.
HOLIDAY HAIRCUTS
I have noticed that a number of boys are sporting hair which is quite long
either in terms of length or fringe. I ask for parental support in this matter and the holidays serve as an ideal time for haircuts, ready to return to school looking neat and tidy. If students choose to have longer hair, it must be tied back be in line with school policy, hence no shaved symbols or alternate styles such as mullets or
mohawks.

GOSPEL
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
Why are you jealous because I am generous?
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner going out at daybreak to hire workers for his vineyard. He made an agreement with the workers for one denarius a day, and sent them to his vineyard. Going out at about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the market place and said to them, “You go to my vineyard too and I will give you a fair wage.” So they went. At about the sixth hour and again at about the ninth hour, he went out and did the same. Then at about the eleventh hour he went out and found more men standing round, and he said to them, “Why have you been standing here idle all day?” “Because no one has hired us” they answered. He said to them, “You go into my vineyard too.” In the evening, the owner of the vineyard said to his bailiff, “Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last arrivals and ending with the first.” So those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came forward and received one denarius each. When the first came, they expected to get more, but they too received one denarius each. They took it, but grumbled at the landowner. “The men who came last” they said “have done only one hour, and you have treated them the same as us, though we have done a heavy day’s work in all the heat.” He answered one of them and said, “My friend, I am not being unjust to you; did we not agree on one denarius? Take your earnings and go. I choose to pay the last-comer as much as I pay you. Have I no right to do what I like with my own? Why be envious because I am generous?” Thus the last will be first, and the first, last.’
This is the Gospel of the Lord.

NEWS ON THE 2020 SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMS
Dear Parents and Carers,
Covid-19 has surely turned things upside down in all aspects of life, in particular, our Sacramental Programs, the First Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Programs are designed to be a Parish and Parents Partnership with School Support. Unfortunately, we have to prepare our children for the Sacraments differently this year. All of our sessions will be held at Nazareth and Stella Maris Parish School at the commencement of Term 4. We will need parents to work with their children, completing Home Activities each week. The children will do their class activities during sessions at School. For the State School Children, classes will be held on Sunday afternoon at 4pm followed by Mass.
First Reconciliation will be celebrated during the school hours. First Holy Communion (subject to Covid restrictions) will be celebrated 3:00PM Saturday 28 November 2020 and 11:00AM Sunday 29 November 2020. Confirmation (subject to Covid restrictions) will be celebrated 6:00PM Thursday 5 November 2020 6:00PM and Friday 6 November 2020.

Just a reminder that the Pupil Free Day scheduled for 25 September is no longer going ahead. Children should come to school as normal. This is the last school day for Term 3.
Students may wear mufti clothes (clothing should be appropriate for Friday Sports activities).
There will be a competition for most creative hat/wig/coloured hair based on the theme Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. Prizes will be awarded for each stage: Kindergarten, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3. Parents should note that students are not to have their hair shaved in any way.
This link will provide short videos of the shortlisted books for 2020.
