AN EASTER PRAYER
God of Promise and God of Hope,
have granted us new birth
through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
we praise your wonderful name!
God of Glory and God of Might
who through your great power
have granted us new strength
to endure all things through faith in Christ our risen King,
we praise your wonderful name!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we approach the end of Term One, I would like to wish all our families a relaxing holiday and especially a happy and holy Easter. May the joy of the Risen Lord be with you all as you have time to enjoy each other’s company and wind down over the holiday period. Please take the time to attend one or more of the many Easter Masses and services in our parish- Thursday 1 April: The Mass of the Lord’s Supper (7.00pm); Friday 2 April: Stations of the Cross (11.00am) & The Lord’s Passion (3pm); Saturday 15 April: Easter Vigil Mass (7.00pm); Sunday 16 April: Easter Sunday Masses (9am & 5pm). There will be an Easter Egg hunt for children after the 9am Mass. Going to church as a family at Easter is a great way to reinforce what the children have been learning about in their Religion lessons and in the Holy Week Liturgy, which was held today.
Thank you to Mrs. Alicia Sanchez-Levine , our Religious Education Coordinator and all the class teachers for preparing the children for Easter and teaching them about the events of Holy Week.
STUDENT WORKBOOKS
I am sure parents enjoyed discussing their children’s learning with them as they looked through their Religion and English workbooks. This process will occur again at the end of Term Three when the Mathematics and Science/HSIE books go home.
EASTER RAFFLE
Thank you also to our P & F for organising the raffle and to those parents who gave up their time to wrap the eggs.
WINTER UNIFORM
The official start of winter uniform will be Monday 10 May (Week 4), however the children may start to wear their winter uniform earlier if the weather is particularly cold. I believe that there may be some supply issues, however, please
be assured that this will be taken into consideration if students are in the wrong uniform. I ask that if this is the case, parents make me aware via writing/email. I commend all students for the manner in which they proudly wear their school uniform and I know this will continue throughout the year, keeping in mind that winter shirts are to be tucked into school pants.
HAIRCUTS
The holidays are always a popular time for student haircuts. I remind parents that alternate haircuts are not allowed, including mullets, mohawks and symbols shaven into the hair. On the few occasions this has occurred I have contacted parents to highlight school policy and the need to maintain an acceptable standard of appearance.
CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to the thirty-two students who have been selected to represent Stella Maris at the Diocesan Cross Country Carnival, which will be held at the Willandra Course, Nowra on Tuesday 27 May (Week 2). The children will continue to train in the next few weeks in order to compete to the best of their ability.

Today I hosted the Principal’s Lunch for the following students who received the most Dojo Points in their class this term. They thoroughly enjoyed the food and I’m sure that all students will be striving for this award next term.

Harmony Day 2021
On Wednesday 24 March at 11am, the Stella Maris Choir performed some songs for the whole school in celebration of the annual celebration of Harmony Day. This day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Holy Week
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week. Palm Sunday is a commemoration of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, coming in peace and riding on a donkey. Jesus' entry into Jerusalem coincided with the Jewish festival of Passover. He was met by crowds of followers and supporters who lined the road into the city and waved branches cut from palm trees. They laid palm fronds on the road and even laid down cloaks for Jesus to ride over. This entry into Jerusalem fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies promising that God's Messiah would enter the holy city and go to the temple.
Today is Holy Thursday, a holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.
Tomorrow we celebrate a very important day in our church’s calendar, Good Friday. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is a day of mourning for Christians.
The Year 6 Leaders of Liturgy and Leaders of Student Support presented a beautiful liturgy today, re-enacting these important events.
On Easter Sunday, as we rejoice in the risen Christ, everyone at Stella Maris would like to wish all our readers a blessed Easter, and a safe and relaxing holiday.
