Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We trust that all our mothers and grandmothers had a very special Mother’s Day last Sunday and were thoroughly spoilt by their families. It was lovely to see all the dads out shopping at Stockland with their children on Saturday, trying to find something nice for the mums. I thank our families for supporting the Mother’s Day stall and raffle. A big thank you to our P and F for their planning and organisation. Thanks also to all parents who helped at the stall on Friday.
Our NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 students continues on into next week and by all reports our children are doing well and enjoying the experience.
STUDENT REPORTS
The teachers are currently finalising their assessments in readiness for the students’ half-yearly reports (Years 1-6), which will be sent home to parents on Friday 11 June (Week 8). Our staff spends countless hours collaborating with their grade partners to compile these reports and I know that parents truly appreciate their efforts. Parent-Teacher interviews will be held between 14- 25 June (Weeks 9 & 10). Parents will soon be able to book a time online via Compass.
YEAR FIVE TARONGA ZOO EXCURSION
Our Year 5 students thoroughly enjoyed their overnight Taronga Zoo excursion, which was held last week. This educational experience included a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens and Mary Mackillop House in North Sydney.
YEAR SIX SPORT & RECREATION CAMP
All Year 6 students had a wonderful time at their three day camp at Berry. The constant wet weather could not dampen the children’s enthusiasm and excitement and they are sure to be talking about this outing for many days to come.
CONGRATULATIONS
The Stella Maris School Community congratulates Sister Kerry on her Diamond Jubilee (60 Years) as a Sister of Charity. A selection of our Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be attending 9am Mass this Sunday to acknowledge Sister Kerry in a song.

May - The month of Mary
For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of May to honor Mary, Mother of God. Not just a day in May, but the entire month. She has a unique role in salvation history as the Mother of God, conceived without Sin, who by her own free will agreed to bring the “Word made flesh", (John 1:14) our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into the world. Her life in the Gospel years was one of service and great devotion to Jesus, from the stable in Bethlehem where she gave birth to Him, to Calvary in Jerusalem where she stood by His cross in His Crucifixion. Mary was a woman of great faith and courage.
Foundation Day Liturgy
Parents, grandparents, family and friends are warmly invited to our Foundation Day celebrations on Tuesday the 25th May. At 9:30am we will have the Mary Aikenhead Awards ceremony followed by Recess. Everyone is welcomed to join their children on the playground for Recess. After Recess, we will have a whole school mass under the COLA to celebrate the feast of Mary Help of Christians. We hope you can help celebrate this special day with us.

We are a school run canteen and rely on volunteers to operate.
Canteen is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to make and prepare lunch orders and serve the children over the counter.
Online orders can be made via the My School Connect app - www.myschoolconnect.com.au/stellamarisps click on create account.
Parents and Carers are asked not to use the Bus Zone at the front of the school as a drop-off zone between 8am-9.30am and 2.30pm-4.00pm. This does cause difficulties for the buses and fines do apply if you are caught by the warden. The drop-off zone is in Wilson Street and this tends to move freely at drop-off times.
