STELLA MARIS SCHOOL PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
We give thanks for Stella Maris Catholic Primary School.
May our school be a safe, caring and friendly place, where everyone is valued and respected.
Be with us in our learning, be with us in our play.
Guide us as we grow in faith, hope and love.
May the love of Christ urge us on as we reverence the story of all people.
We ask through your Son Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
Forever and ever
AMEN.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
With only two weeks left of Term Two, I would like to thank all our students for trying so hard with their learning and contributing positively to school life in so many ways. It is indeed a pleasure to stand up in front of the classes each day at the morning assembly and to say together our school prayer. It sums up our Mission Statement- We are a Faith-Filled, Respectful Community of Learners.
Having recently completed Kindergarten 2022 interviews, I am acutely aware of the wonderful reputation Stella Maris has throughout the local area and I am extremely proud of the dynamic school community we have created together: students, staff, parents and Parish. I thank everyone for their involvement and contributions.
CONFIRMATION
Currently we have many Year 6 students who have started their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which will take place on Sunday 18 July. Could I please ask that our community keep these young children in their prayers as they take another step in becoming full members of our Catholic Faith.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
On Tuesday, we had a short prayer service to celebrate World Environment Day (June 5). This year’s theme: REIMAGINE, RECREATE, RESTORE, reminds us that we can't go back in time to when the world was a greener place, but what we can do is plant trees, clean our oceans and rivers, and make peace with nature that fuels our everyday lives.
SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Today’s School Athletics Carnival fortunately went ahead, despite some very cold weather. Thank you to the children who so willingly competed in the events and to the parents who came along to support them. I would also like to thank the staff who did a magnificent job of organising the day.
Age champions and overall winners will be announced at the Friday morning assembly.
REPRESENTATIVE SPORT
A big congratulations to Maya Hopkins on her selection in the New South Wales Primary Schools Basketball team. This is an amazing achievement when you consider the number of enrolled students in Primary Schools. It has indeed been eight years since we have had a Stella Maris student selected in a state team. Well done Maya.
Congratulations also to Tyne McGregor and Lily Griggs on their selection in Country Oztag teams, Mason Soligo on his Mackillop Touch selection and Tahj Dimond, who participated in the 11 year State Rugby League team last week in Kiama. Our students are certainly excelling in sport at our school.
NETBALL GALA DAY
Good luck to the ten teams who are representing Stella Maris at the Netball Gala Day next Tuesday at Berkeley. We know that you will have lots of fun and be great ambassadors of our school.

Confirmation workshops continue in the Stella Maris Library and at Nazareth.

Pentecost
On Sunday the 23rd May, the Church celebrated Pentecost, one of the most important feast days of the year. It concludes the Easter season and celebrates the beginning of the Church.
The name of the day itself is derived from the Greek word "pentecoste," meaning 50th.
In the Christian tradition, Pentecost is the celebration of the person of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus, who were gathered together in the Upper Room.
A “strong, driving” wind filled the room where they were gathered, and tongues of fire came to rest on their heads, allowing them to speak in different languages so that they could understand each other.
The Holy Spirit also gave the apostles the other gifts and fruits necessary to fulfill the great commission - to go out and preach the Gospel to all nations. It fulfills the New Testament promise from Christ (Luke 24:46-49) that the Apostles would be “clothed with power” before they would be sent out to spread the Gospel.
Sacred Heart of Jesus
In Catholic churches and homes, one of the most popular images of Jesus is the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is the image of God’s love revealed in the pierced heart of His Son. It is the symbol of a love that conquers sin and transcends death, the symbol of the One who loved us to the end.
Love has always been associated with the heart, so it was only natural that the love of God became represented by a heart, the heart of his Son Jesus. In him, God the Father revealed his infinite love for us. On the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
