STELLA MARIS SCHOOL PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
We give thanks for Stella Maris Catholic Primary School.
May our school be a safe, caring and friendly place, where everyone is valued and respected.
Be with us in our learning, be with us in our play.
Guide us as we grow in faith, hope and love.
May the love of Christ urge us on as we reverence the story of all people.
We ask through your Son Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
Forever and ever AMEN.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
With only two weeks left of Term Two, I would like to thank all of our students for trying so hard with their learning and contributing positively to school life in so many ways. It is indeed a pleasure to stand up in front of the classes each day at the morning assembly and to say together our school prayer. It sums up our Mission Statement- We are a Faith-Filled, Respectful Community of Learners.
Having recently completed Kindergarten 2023 interviews, I am acutely aware of the wonderful reputation Stella Maris has throughout the local area and I am extremely proud of the dynamic school community we have created together: students, staff, parents and Parish. I thank everyone for their involvement and contributions.
CONFIRMATION
Currently we have many Year 6 students who have started their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which will take place on Sunday 3 July. Could I please ask that our community keep these young children in their prayers as they take another step in becoming full members of our Catholic Faith.

The Parish weekly bulletin will provide information about the ceremonies, including dress. Students who are being confirmed are asked to bring their Saint’s Poster to Mass so that they can be hung on the walls of the Church.
Confirmation workshops continue in the Stella Maris Year 6 Rooms. Please contact the Parish office for any further information on 02 4296 3939.
Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday 3 July 2022 11.00am and 2.00pm. There is the possibility that there may only be one Mass to celebrate the Sacrament.

The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus 24 June
In Catholic churches and homes, one of the most popular images of Jesus is the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is the image of God’s love revealed in the pierced heart of His Son. It is the symbol of a love that conquers sin and transcends death, the symbol of the One who loved us to the end.
Love has always been associated with the heart, so it was only natural that the love of God became represented by a heart, the heart of his Son Jesus. In him, God the Father revealed his infinite love for us. On the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Grandparents Day 26 July - SAVE THE DATE!
Invitation to Grandparents
Each Grandparent is unique and irreplaceable. As society changes, the role of grandparents changes.
But some things about grandparents are constant. Join us in celebrating the gift they are in our lives!
Tuesday 26 July 2022 at 9:00am, followed by Open Classrooms & Morning Tea
Join your grandchildren for Recess on this day!
God Bless

BOOK WEEK Term 3, Thursday 25th August.
The theme for Book Week this year is ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open’'. The Book Week event is a celebration of books, knowledge and reading and special book related activities for the school community.
At Stella Maris we will be having a special event dedicated to Book Week at 9am. On Thursday 25 August students will come to school dressed as their favourite book character and take part in a whole school parade. Year 6 students will parade with their Kinder buddies. Students are discouraged from wearing costumes or masks that might frighten other students.
More information will be forthcoming nearly next term.

We have updated our Compass system to send you a notification when your child receives Merit or Gold awards. 1 merit point is awarded for each merit award that they receive. Gold awards will be automatically generated once your child receives 5 merit points, inclusive of awards that were received prior to today's update, and therefore students are no longer required to bring in their 5 awards. Please refer to the newsletter for the list of Gold Award recipients to confirm the date that your child will be receiving their award, as Gold Awards are not presented at every assembly.
There are bound to be some teething issues during this transition period, so if in the coming weeks you feel your child should have received a Gold Award but hasn't, please get in touch with their class teacher. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this time.
